There's truth in what you said, but that's not really the point. Yes, the future is unpredictable, and something might happen that makes us unable to keep our promise. And that's fine. Such is life.

The point is simply this: If someone cares about you, they'll treat their promise seriously. They'll try their best to keep it, regardless of the circumstances.

Promises are impossible to keep.
